Belhaven College is pleased to announce that Joseph Thrasher is returning home to his Alma Mater as the new Head Coach of the Blazer football program. As the program enters its second decade, its growth and maturity is underscored by Thrasher’s appointment. Thrasher was a member of Belhaven’s inaugural football team in 1998, so his return as Head Coach represents the fulfillment of a vision that began over a decade ago.

Belhaven President Dr. Roger Parrott remarks on the significance of the occasion: “A dozen years ago when we first envisioned launching intercollegiate football, I looked forward to the day that we would hire one of our own graduates as head coach. I never expected it would come in only our twelfth season, but Joe Thrasher is one of a kind. With a humble spirit, he has carried well the mantle of leadership since he first played on our inaugural team, all the way through his remarkable record as an experienced high school and collegiate head coach who knows how to win, and to do so without ever compromising character in the process. With our program having now grown from infancy into maturity, we are ready to build a nationally competitive tradition of Blazer football – and Joe is the right leader to take us there.”

Thrasher succeeds Coach Don Lee, who recently accepted the Head Coaching position at his own alma mater, Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee, Illinois.
