May 15, 2009—Forty-eight students in the adult studies program were inducted into the Alpha Sigma Lambda (ASL) Society this spring. ASL is a national honor society, established in 1946, to honor scholarship and leadership in adult students. It is the oldest, as well as largest chapter-based honor society for full and part-time adult students.
To become a member, students must have earned a minimum of 24 semester hours in an undergraduate degree program at Belhaven College and be in the top ten percent of eligible students. This honor society recognizes that adult students who achieve academic excellence are doing so while juggling family, work, and community responsibilities.
