November 18, 2010: The 5th Annual One Act Festival is coming soon! On November 30 or December 1 come enjoy this evening of desserts and plays written, directed, and performed by Belhaven students. "We are most excited that this year Festival is a showcase of the plays selected from our first One Act Contest every play this year is a World Premiere," says Theatre Department Chair Joseph Frost.

The One Act Festival is set up as part of two different classes, the Directing class and the Production Supervision class, whose processes are being evaluated for course credit. In these classes students are hands-on learning about the process of putting on a show. "This festival is a big part of our focus on developing new works for the theatre, and it is a great opportunity for new students and students who aren't theatre majors to get on stage," says Frost.

Desserts will be for sale between performances. Proceeds of dessert sales go to benefit the Iota Upsilon chapter of Alpha Psi Omega, the national theatre honorary society.

The Festival is Tuesday, November 30 and Wednesday, December 1 at 7:30 pm in the Blackbox Theatre. Complimentary admission, no reserved seating. Doors open at 7 pm.
