September 14, 2010 Three Blazer student-athletes have been chosen as the conferences athletes of the week: Christina Jacques, volleyball, and Alex Williams and Billy Hammer, football.
Christiana Jaques was chosen as the OnePath Systems Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Week for her efforts in matches during the week of August 30th through September 5th, in which she totaled 49 kills, 4 solo blocks, and 21 block assists.
Alex Williams and Billy Hammer were selected as Mid-South Conference Players of the Week for their efforts in a 41-34 win over Louisiana College on September 4. Williams, a sophomore quarterback, completed 31 of 42 passes for 317 yards and two touchdowns, one of which came with 34 seconds left for the game winner. Williams went 6 for 6 on the game winning drive and was also the Blazers leading rusher, averaging 7.3 yards per carry.
Hammer, a sophomore linebacker, was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week with 13 total tackles for Belhaven, while also returning a fumble 21 yards for a touchdown early in the third quarter.
