May 12, 2010: Charles Coleman received the Citizenship Award at graduation on Saturday, May 8, 2010. He has finished his Bachelor of Science in Management degree and has plans to start the next Masters in Leadership program. This award is to recognize and honor his service to the community and risking his life as a patrolman for the safety and security of fellow citizens.
Charles works full-time for the MS Highway Safety Patrol and has served as a Pastor in Walthall County. Willing to accept the hazards that accompany law enforcement, Charles just suffered an accident having been hit by an eighteen-wheeler while on duty. He and his wife, Yolanda, who is also in the Adult Continuing Studies Aspire Program, have shown dedication to continuing their education and have considered Belhaven to be a blessing in their own lives as well as to the City of Jackson.
Belhaven University, formerly Belhaven College, prepares men and women academically and spiritually to serve Christ Jesus in their careers, in human relationships, and in the world of ideas. Founded in 1883, the University now serves over 3,000 students from campuses in Jackson, Memphis, Orlando, Houston, and online.
