March 1, 2010: At last week’s Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) Forum, Belhaven University President Dr. Roger Parrott had the honor of introducing and presenting Dr. John Perkins, renowned racial reconciliation leader, with the CCCU’s highest award, the Mark Hatfield Leadership Award. Dr. Parrott’s introduction is available on his blog “The President’s Reflections,” and Dr. Perkins’ subsequent message will be available on the CCCU website soon.

Dr. Perkins, whom Dr. Parrott calls “the father of racial reconciliation for the evangelical church,” is founder of Christian Community Development Association, the leading group for best practices in faith based community development, has served on the boards of World Vision, Prison Fellowship, National Association of Evangelicals, Spring Arbor College and many others, is the author of 15 books, and a continues to be a model for hands-on community development in ministries he founded in Mississippi and California.

The Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU), of which Belhaven University is a member, is an international association of intentionally Christian colleges and universities. The Council includes 109 members in North America and 72 affiliate institutions in 23 countries.
