May 23, 2011 (Gulf Shores, AL)The Blazer Softball team swept through the first round of the 2011 NAIA National Championship with a 3-0 record and have earned a spot in the Final 8. This is the second consecutive year the Blazers have reached the Elite 8, and double-elimination play begins Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. when they face William Carey.
Three of the final eight remaining teams in the tournament are SSAC Conference members: Belhaven, William Carey and Shorter. Belhaven won the 2011 SSAC Championship and is primed for a title run in the round of eight.
