November 21, 2011 (Jackson) - Belhaven University’s four new members added to the board of trustees are Joel Bomgar, Doug Hederman, Rev. Sean Michael Lucas and Dr. Richard S. Whitlock.

Dr. Roger Parrott, President of Belhaven University said, “Our four new board members bring a wealth of talent, experience, and Godly wisdom. Rick, Joel, Sean, and Doug are strong advocates for Christian education, ministry and service and will bring their passion to the Belhaven Board of Trustees. I look forward to working with them as we collectively seek to discern God’s will for Belhaven.”

Bomgar, who received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the university in 2003, is the Founder and CEO of Bomgar Corporation, a remote tech-support company. Prior to starting Bomgar Corporation, he worked as a senior network engineer and systems integrator for Business Communications, Inc. (BCI). Bomgar Corporation’s rapid growth has been recognized by numerous awards, including Deloitte Fast 500 in 2007 and 2008, and Inc. Magazine Inc. 500 in 2008 and 2009.

Hederman, President of Hederman Brothers Printing, graduated from the University of Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He worked in Little Rock, Arkansas for a large marketing, advertising and public relations firm before returning to Mississippi to serve Hederman Brothers Printing as executive vice-president and director of sales. Today he is the president and fourth generation leader of Hederman Brothers Printing.

Lucas is the Senior Minister of The First Presbyterian Church in Hattiesburg, Miss. Prior to coming to Hattiesburg he served as Chief Academic Officer and Associate Professor of Church History at Covenant Seminary in St. Louis, MO. Lucas received his undergraduate degree in pastoral studies and master’s degree in theology and church history at Bob Jones University. He then went to Westminster Theological Seminary and earned his Doctorate of Philosophy in Church History. He is an author of many books including, On Being Presbyterian, What is Grace?, What is Church?, and Robert Lewis Dabney: A Southern Presbyterian Life.

Whitlock is a Jackson native who has worked the past 25 years for the South Coast Family Physicians group practice in Pascagoula, MS. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Association. His steady and dedicated service was highlighted by his return to the storm-ravaged MS Gulf Coast immediately following hurricane Katrina in 2005. He graduated from Belhaven University in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He received his graduate degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1986 and completed his residency at the University of Alabama Hospital in 1989.
