November 22, 2011 (Houston) - This Thanksgiving the students and staff on Belhaven’s Houston Campus will come together and feed the homeless for the Star of Hope Thanksgiving Holiday Meal and Celebration.

The Star of Hope Ministry opened its doors back in 1907 and currently feeds thousands of men, women, and children daily. The Star of Hope is also a Christ-centered community dedicated to meeting the needs of the homeless through structured programs, which focuses on spiritual growth, education, employment, life management and recovery from substance abuse.

Dr. Dick Druary is an adjunct faculty member at the Belhaven Houston Campus and serves as Director of Star of Hope in Houston. Dr. Druary said, “At Star of Hope we see the Living God at work, to seek and to save the lost. Men who have been given up for dead by everyone, but have been touched by Jesus and His mercy, and are changed forever.”

The Star of Hope Thanksgiving Holiday Meal and Celebration is a yearly event in the Houston area and open to anyone who would like to volunteer.

Belhaven stands among the select Christian colleges and universities that offer a unique general core curriculum encouraging the development of a personal worldview. The university believes a Christian worldview is a key to preparing men and women academically and spiritually to serve Christ Jesus in their careers, in human relationships, and in the world of ideas.

Founded in 1883, Belhaven University now serves over 3,000 students from campuses in Jackson, Memphis, Orlando, Houston, Chattanooga, Atlanta and online, offering traditional undergraduate degrees, graduate and adult degree programs, and online degree programs.
