August 2, 2011 (Jackson) - It’s time to put a face with a name and introduce Belhaven student leaders for this year.

Each residence hall is looked after by a Resident Director (RD) with the help of Resident Assistants (RA) who all play an important role in the everyday life of a student.

“One of the places that a great deal of ‘outside the classroom’ education occurs is in the residence halls. The goal of the residence hall staff is to enhance students’ personal development by helping them integrate their education experiences into daily living,” explains Greg Hawkins, Dean of Student Life.

Get to know Belhaven’s RAs before you even meet them. Find out which RA staff members like thrift shopping, baking, practicing parkour moves, intramural dodge ball, or bridge jumping. Also discover which RA you will be assigned to and what building you will call your home for the next four years.

The doors of a Belhaven RD or RA will always be open to help, listen, or encourage.

Hawkins adds, “The staff seek to build relationships with all students by living out the Student Life theme verse from 1 Thessalonians 2:8, ‘We were delighted to impart to you not only the gospel of God, but your own lives as well.’ The staff is already in prayer for all incoming students, prepping for extensive time of training, and anticipating the arrival of students in the following weeks.”

Belhaven proudly stands among the select Christian colleges and universities that offer a unique general core curriculum encouraging the development of a personal worldview. The university believes a Christian worldview is a key to preparing men and women academically and spiritually to serve Christ Jesus in their careers, in human relationships, and in the world of ideas.

Founded in 1883, Belhaven University now serves over 3,000 students from campuses in Jackson, Memphis, Orlando, Houston, Chattanooga, Atlanta and online, offering traditional undergraduate degrees, graduate and adult degree programs, and online degree programs.
