November 23, 2011(Memphis) - Belhaven’s Memphis Campus is staying busy this holiday season with many different projects and events that serve their community.

This year the Memphis Campus is teaming up with The Refuge, a North Mississippi charity led by former Belhaven staff member Mike Coker, to provide 48 Backpacks for the homeless in the mid-south. Memphis staff, faculty, and students are collecting blankets, warm clothing, shoes, food, and toiletries to fill the backpacks. The team will help distribute the backpacks under bridges and in homeless shelters the week of Christmas.

The Memphis team is working with the local chapter of Dress for Success in their Christmas “Pantyhose, Purses, and Pumps” drive. The Memphis campus is a drop point for new or gently used business attire for underprivileged women attempting to enter the workforce. Dress for Success will also provide office training and interviewing tips for their candidates.

Memphis will also be participating in the Toys-for-Tots program till December 1 and is collecting new, unwrapped toys for the needy in East Memphis.

Don Jones, Director of Admission & Student Services in Memphis, said, "We hope that everyone will give to one or all of these charitable organizations. Belhaven Memphis wants to have a significant and lasting impact on the community around us, and during this Christmas season we want others to experience the love of Christ through our giving."

From now till December 15, the Memphis staff will gift-wrap up to three personal gifts for FREE to anyone who gives to The Refuge, Toys-for-Tots or Dress for Success charities.
