July 7, 2011 - A Bachelor of Arts in Social Services is now offered at two of Belhaven University’s extended campuses. Belhaven Atlanta has recently acquired the social services degree, and the same social service degree is available from Belhaven Chattanooga.
Audrey Kelleher is the Vice President of Adult and Graduate Development and says, “We are excited about expanding our adult studies program. This bachelor degree prepares students for future study in the field of social services and for employment at the many social service agencies serving in our surrounding communities.”
This new degree curriculum seeks to introduce students into the study of human behavior and mental processes while keeping the foundations of a Christian worldview. Belhaven’s social services degree will prepare graduates to work with individuals, families, and communities and help them improve their conditions and problems.
A degree in social services can lead to entry-level positions in all sectors of health and welfare services including non-profits, public agencies, private businesses, hospitals, clinics, schools, nursing homes, private practices, courts, and many other areas.
The main focus of the degree is to combine the head knowledge of social service with the heart knowledge of Christian counseling.
