August 29, 2012 (Jackson) - The Belhaven University Dance Department is honored to partner with the American College Dance Festival Association (ACDFA) in celebrating their 40th anniversary and will host the Southern Regional Festival in Jackson, Miss. on March 13-16, 2013.
Cynthia Newland, Chair of the Dance Department said, "We are excited to host the American College Dance Southern Regional Festival this Spring, 2013. Students and faculty from five neighboring states will join together to share in the diversity of dance through performances, classes and presentations. We are honored to have this opportunity to serve our guests in our beautiful facilities and believe impressions made by Belhaven faculty, staff and students will long be remembered."
Festival participants will enjoy adjudicated concerts where students will receive constructive feedback from noted national dance professionals. Over fifty dance classes are being offered, ranging in styles from ballet, modern, jazz and hip-hop. Other events include choreography classes, repertory, lectures and panel discussions. Panels will discuss such topics as current trends in the field of dance, health and wellness, teacher education, becoming a dance professional and screen dance.
There will be limited tickets available to the adjudicated concerts for the Belhaven and Jackson community. Check out acdfa.org for more information.
