October 23, 2012 (Jackson) - After four years of study, students from Belhaven’s Dance Department will present their final projects at the Senior Dance Concert on October 25-26. Their projects will exhibit the culmination of their study in dance at the Bitsy Irby Visual Arts and Dance Center Studio Theatre at 7:30 P.M.
Rebekah Asher, Whitney Dufrene, Marah King and Brigette Marquardt will each present a performance that showcases their journey as dance artists, writers, performers and choreographers.
“Arrive early prior to the start to read information about each project to gain a greater awareness of the depth of each senior research for their capstone projects,” said, Cynthia Newland, Chair of the Dance Department.
Each senior has a theme for their project that is creatively unique to the individual dancer, and will consist of classical ballet, modern and contemporary dance styles.
Marquardt from Fort Worth, Texas, is one of the seniors who will be featured and said, "The administrative, artistic, and spiritual experiences of my senior project have been engraved in me, and will serve the progress of my future dance and theatre company and consequently, nurture my vision of diversity-within-unity across the world.”
Dufrene’s four years of study at Belhaven has been influential in many ways. She said, “This growth-filled experience has allowed me to discover anew the breath, life and spirit that course through the veins of humanity - marking us as image-bearing creations of God Almighty.”
General admission is $10 and $5 for seniors and students. All Belhaven faculty, staff, students and children under 12 are free.
