December 17, 2012 (Jackson) - Belhaven University was awarded Best Christian Workplace for 2013. This award recognizes only 22 Christian business and nonprofit organizations in the country that excel in job satisfaction, Christian witness, personal development, teamwork and management.

Dr. Roger Parrott, President of Belhaven University, said, “The Best Christian Workplace study affirmed what we already know – God has brought together a remarkable group of faculty and staff. Im thankful for the dedicated people who have found their calling by honoring Christ through Belhaven University and each one of them is important in fulfilling our mission.”

The Best Christian Workplaces Institute discovers which companies are continuing to nurture their employees by asking them to respond to more than 50 questions addressing relevant topics within the organization.

The survey provides an avenue of communication for employees, giving Belhaven a clearer picture of the workplace environment. It also gives useful information that can ultimately contribute to Belhaven’s mission.

Dr. Parrott adds, “The depth of data generated allows us to move to an even higher level of releasing all the gifts of our faculty and staff. God has helped us to build a team of people who are working in their gift set, who are challenged by the Lord for their opportunities to serve and benefit our students directly.”

Helen Lee and Al Lopus founded the Best Christian Workplaces Institute, a human resources research and consulting firm with the mission to make Christian organizations the best places to work in the world. BCWI created the first Best Christian Workplaces survey in 2002 working in partnership with Christianity Today.

“We salute this year’s Best Christian Workplaces for doing far more than just surviving despite the challenging economy,” Al Lopus, President of BCWI noted in a statement. “These organizations set the bar in terms of employee engagement and serve as an inspiration for all. While overall survey trends indicate employee engagement is struggling to recover from the shock of the financial recession, these leaders recognize the importance of nurturing healthy organizational cultures to better achieve their vision. They understand that healthy organizations are fruitful.”
