February 22, 2012 (Jackson) - The Belhaven University Musical Theatre Production of Into the Woods will premiere on March 1-3 in the Belhaven Center for the Arts Concert Hall.

This musical from Stephen Sondheim, an American composer and lyricist for stage and film, creatively combines a variety of characters from other fairy tales. The story is centered around what happens after the adventures of these fairy tales we know so well.

Bret Kenyon, Director of the musical performance, said, “Stephen Sondheim Into the Woods is a fairy tale musical that goes far beyond the ‘happily ever after.’ Is happiness simply having your wish granted? Or does it only lead to more wishes? This musical theatre explores these and other life questions while following the scattered adventures of the fairy tale cast, and the brilliant combination of Sondheim music and lyrics ensure a show that is not easily forgotten.”
