November 14, 2012 (Jackson) - Students from Belhaven’s Music Department will be performing in the Wind, Percussion, Jazz Guitar and Jazz Ensemble Concert on Thursday, November 15 in the Center for the Arts Concert Hall. Come out and enjoy a musical blending of classical, contemporary jazz and blues with a twist of gospel.

“This joint concert will showcase the top wind, percussion and guitar students and there will be a variety of tunes performed that will tickle your fancy. We will go from ‘Beethoven to Blues.’ It’s a wonderful musical event for all ages,” said Belhaven Associate Professor of Music, Dr. Paxton Girtmon.

The Wind Ensemble will carry out its full repertoire by performing newer music. With a variety of ensembles performing for the concert, this blending of improvisational genres and styles plans to deliver a unique musical experience.

This concert is free to the public and starts at 7:00 p.m. Bring the whole family for a fun concert that should have your feet tapping all night. Belhaven’s Center for the Arts is located at 835 Riverside Drive.

This is just one of the many exciting events from Belhaven’s School of the Arts. Check out Arts Ablaze for plays, dance and music concerts, poetry readings, gallery exhibits and more happening this year.
