November 26, 2012 (Jackson) - Students from the Belhaven Dance Department will present original dance performances during the DOXA Fall Dance Concert on November 28 and 29. DOXA, which means “praise” in Greek, is a student led dance club, where members can use dance as a ministry and outreach. This year all proceeds go the benefit The Little Light House, a ministry for children with special needs.

This event will be held at the Bitsy Irby Visual Arts and Dance Center at 7:30 p.m. The concert will highlight the creative production from Belhaven’s young, up-and-coming talent in the Belhaven Dance Department.

Cynthia Newland, Dance Department Chair, said, “Our annual DOXA Fall Dance Concert is an exciting event containing student choreographic projects with all dances created and performed by students. Each year students take this opportunity to display unique dances showcasing their craftsmanship developed during their compositional and choreographic studies.”

General admission is $2 and free for children under 12. Complimentary admission for all Belhaven faculty, staff and students.

This is just one of the many exciting events from Belhaven’s School of the Arts. Check out Arts Ablaze for plays, dance and music concerts, poetry readings, gallery exhibits and more happening this year.
