October 17, 2012 (Jackson) - Calling for a Historic Gathering of Singing Christmas Tree Singers:
Have you ever participated in the Belhaven University Singing Christmas Tree? If so, this is an open invitation for you, and we need your help to make this year’s performance extra special.
This year will mark the 80th Anniversary of one the world’s oldest outdoor singing Christmas tree events. Thousands of students have participated in this annual event during their season of study at Belhaven and we are asking all past Christmas tree singers to join current students of the Celebration Choir for this Belhaven tradition.
The 80th Singing Christmas Tree will be on Friday, November 30 and Saturday, December 1, 2012. You can sing on Friday night only, Saturday night only or both nights. If you choose to participate you will be sent music and MP3 files of the Celebration Choir parts well in advance of the event.

Calling for A Historic Gathering of “O Holy Night” Soloist:
One long-standing tradition and climactic moment of this annual event is the singing of “O Holy Night” by a student honored for vocal achievement. To celebrate this anniversary, we want to gather as many of the “O Holy Night” soloists from the past as possible to join with this year’s soloist in a special performance.
These soloists will sing as a back-up ensemble. If you performed “O Holy Night” for the Belhaven University Singing Christmas Tree at any time, Dr. Shelt wants you to come and participate in this year’s event. You can sing on Friday night only, Saturday night only or both nights. You will be sent music and MP3 files of the ensemble parts well in advance of the event.

5:00-5:30 P.M. Rehearsal and sound check for "O Holy Night" with former soloists
5:00-5:30 P.M. Celebration Choir Gathers in Auxiliary Gym. Light Refreshments served
5:30-6:30 P.M. Rehearsal with Celebration Choir
6:30-7:15 P.M. Dress in Attire and Final preparations for all participants
7:15-7:25 P.M All participants move either to tree (Current Students) or Chairs (for Celebration Choir)
