December 10, 2013 (Jackson) - Belhaven University will honor its graduating adult, online and graduate students on Saturday, December 14, 2013. Belhaven’s Jackson Commencement Ceremony will start at 9:30 a.m. in Thalia Mara Hall, 255 East Pascagoula Street. The Rev. Neddie Winters, President of Mission Mississippi, will be the commencement speaker at the ceremony.
Rev. Winters is a native Mississippian, born and raised in Tunica. He serves as president of Mission Mississippi, a movement in the church to reconcile individuals across racial and denominational lines. Mission Mississippi began in 1993 and just celebrated their 20-year anniversary. Rev. Winters is a former pastor with over 20 years of pastoral ministry. In addition, he has over 40 years of experience in management, administration, executive leadership, mortgage financing, agricultural and non-agricultural lending as well as training and promotional development activities. He is a consultant, leadership development trainer and coach, conference speaker, and workshop leader. He serves on many different boards and community organizations.
Rev. Winters holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in General Agriculture from Alcorn State University and a Master of Science Degree in Public Financial Management from The American University, Washington D.C. He also holds an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities from the New Foundation Theological Seminary in Terry, Miss. He furthered his studies by attending Reform Theological Seminary in Jackson, Miss. and Stephen Olford Preaching Institute in Memphis, Tenn. He has been married to his wife Tommie for over 40 years and they have five children, 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. They live in Clinton, Miss.
