April 12, 2013 (Houston) - Graduating students from Belhaven Houston will be honored at commencement on April 19, 2013. The Belhaven University Houston Commencement starts at 7:00 p.m. at Christ Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
Dr. Larry Ruddell, Dean of Faculty at Belhaven Houston, said, "We are thrilled with the 24 students who will graduate on Friday, April 19 and thankful to their churches, friends and family who have provided so much support and our wonderful staff and faculty who have shepherded them in their journey. We look to each student to live as leaders as a city set on a hill that cannot be hidden (Matthew 5:14).
Dr. Jonathan L. Burnham, Pastor of St. John Presbyterian Church in Houston, will be the commencement speaker for the Houston graduation ceremony. Dr. Burnham has served as pastor of St. John Presbyterian Church in Houston, Texas since 2007. Before moving to Texas, Jon served Presbyterian churches in Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee. Jon received his B.A. in Christian Ministries and Counseling from Belhaven University in Jackson, Miss. in 1984. He also earned Master degrees in Christian Education and Divinity from Union Presbyterian Seminary in Virginia and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Memphis Theological Seminary. Jon met his wife, Jana, while a student at Belhaven. Jana and Jon have two teenage children, Jackson and Jennifer.
