March 27, 2013 (Jackson) - The Belhaven University Dance Department will present its spring dance production, Quest of the Designer. Similar to Cirque Du Soleil, this family-friendly performance weaves together six separate works with dance, music and beautiful set designs into one gripping story.

Cynthia Newland, Chair of the Dance Department, elaborates on the production. “Quest of the Designer is an exciting and captivating dance production telling the story of the ‘Great Designer’ and His journey and interaction with His creation. The variety of characters and storyline will inspire the audience’s imagination as well as bring a fresh look at Designer God and the world where He dwells. All ages will be intrigued by this unique performance.”

The performance space has been transformed through a new staging design. The production will also feature an exceptional array of props, ranging from magazines and clip-on lights to the department’s newest addition of an aerial silks apparatus that students will be performing on. The performance, displaying modern and contemporary ballet styles, features choreography by Belhaven faculty members Cynthia Newland, Caleb Mitchell, Laura Morton-Zebert and Rachael Inman.

Individuals and families alike are invited to come and enjoy Quest of the Designer. The performances are taking place at the Bitsy Irby Visual Arts and Dance Center Studio on the following dates:
