January 13, 2014 (Jackson) - Dr. Christopher Shelt and Belhaven Vocal Arts will present a hilarious opera for grown-ups; A Game of Chance will premiere on January 18, 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Belhaven Concert Hall. Admission is complimentary.
A Game of Chance, by Seymour Barab, is a comic opera and perfect for first time opera-goers. This opera will make you laugh and it will make you think. Set in the 1950s, three newspaper writers dream of a life that is exciting and different from their hum-drum lives as typists. Their wishes are mysteriously answered by strange visitors and they end up learning to be careful what they wish for.
