Sports Administration Students Travel to LondonOctober 7, 2015 (London, England) - Students from the Sports Administration Department and School of Business traveled to London, England October 6 to study international sports culture and management.

Students will meet with and learn from professional sports leaders at Wimbledon, Wembley Stadium, London Olympic Training Facilities, Kingston University, Cambridge University and visit NFL Europe offices.

“As we enter this ground-breaking trip for our Sports Administration Department, our students will gain valuable insight into the sports industry that will last a lifetime,” said Dr. Howard Bartee Jr., Chair and Assistant Professor of the Sports Administration Department. “With globalization of sports and business growing at a significant rate, we want our students to stay on the cutting edge of where our industry is going, both domestically and internationally.”

The trip is the first of its kind through the International Site Observation course taught by Dr. Ed Garrett, Assistant Professor of Sports Administration. “This is an incredible opportunity for students to gain international sports business experience and to make some life-impacting career contacts,” said Dr. Garrett.

Along with gaining international sports experience, the students plan to serve alongside churches in London. “Though this is not a mission trip, we felt that it was important that we lived out Belhaven's mission to serve, and not be served while in London,” said Dr. Garrett.

The course is expected to run every other year, allowing every sports administration student the opportunity to take the International Site Observation course before they graduate.
