November 11, 2016 (Jackson, Miss.) - Belhaven has a long history of supporting the U.S. military in their pursuit of higher education, and the University was nationally recognized with the prestigious title of 2017 Military Friendly School.
The award honors top colleges and universities in the country that are doing the most to embrace America's military service members, veterans and spouses as students and ensuring their success on campus and after graduation.
According to Daniel Nichols, chief product officer at Victory Media's Military Friendly Schools List, Our ability to apply a clear, consistent standard to the majority of colleges gives veterans a comprehensive view of which schools are striving to provide the best opportunities and conditions for our nation's student veterans. Military Friendly helps military families make the best use of the Post-9/11 GI Bill and other federal benefits while allowing us to further our goal of assisting them in finding success in their chosen career fields.
Belhaven's Adult and Graduate Programs help and support military personnel with their goals for higher education. The adult studies program makes attending Belhaven more affordable for military by providing the Yellow Ribbon Program and other incentives. Belhaven military benefits not only help with the financial side of education, but also extend into other areas. Tuition includes your books, and transcripts are requested and paid for by the University.
Another reason the University made the list this year was because ofBelhaven Online. The online program fits into the busy and mobile lifestyles of military and also provides a flexible schedule for military to earn a degree.
