April 27, 2016 (Jackson, Miss.) - The Mississippi Museum of Art and the Belhaven Dance Department are collaborating to bring paintings to life through dance. Cynthia Newland, chair of the dance department, created choreographed vignettes responding to Modernist works from the exhibition When Modern was Contemporary: Selections from the Roy R. Neuberger Collection.
Art works will be projected across the stage as the dancers interact and respond to the work through contemporary and Modernist-era styles.
The performance entitled Movement of a Time is Friday, April 29 and will begin at 7 p.m. in the Mississippi Museum of Art's Trustmark Grand Hall.
Admission includes cost of exhibition which will be open before and after the program. The cost is $20 or $8 for members and students (with student ID).
