September 29, 2016 (Jackson, Miss.) - The first ever game in the new Belhaven Bowl Stadium will be played this Saturday, October 1, 2016. Blazers Football kicks-off their first home game of the 2016 season against East Texas Baptist University at 1 p.m.
Located in the heart of campus, the new stadium has undergone a $4 million transformation, including installation of a custom turf playing surface, comfortable chair-back seating for 1,200 and a state-of-the-art Daktronics video board.
The game is part of a full day of events including Family Weekend 2016. Saturday's event highlights include:
8:30 a.m. - Discover Day Program
9 a.m. - Campus tailgating locations available for setup
10 a.m. - Campus Bookstore opens with all the latest Blazers gear
11:30 a.m. - Teams take the field for pre-game warm-ups
12:50 p.m. - Opening Prayer and National Anthem
12:55 p.m. - Introduction of the Blazers Football Team
1 p.m. - Football Kickoff - Blazers vs. East Texas Baptist University
5 p.m. - Blazers Volleyball vs. LeTourneau University (Rugg Arena)
5:30 p.m. - Family Catfish Dinner in the Student Center Dining Commons ($6.50, pay at the cashier)
5:30 p.m. - Spirit Night with Student Leadership & BLC
Campus Game Day Information is listed below:
- Tailgating - There are two designated tailgating areas available on Game Day - the south hill overlooking the Bowl Stadium and the large lawn area between the Library and Helen White Hall. Fans may bring their tents, grills and food beginning at 9:00 am.
- Parking - Parking will be available throughout campus, with directional parking signage visible from Peachtree Street.
- Tickets - In this first season in the Bowl Stadium, seating will be complimentary (free) for all fans - students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, friends and neighbors. No tickets needed! Home seating is located on the west side of the stadium and visitor seating is located on the east side of the stadium.
- Concessions - Concessions will be available in the lobby of Rugg Arena, as well as adjacent to the Caldwell Hall parking lot.
- Restrooms - Restrooms will be available in the lobbies of Rugg Arena, Bitsy Irby Visual Arts and Dance Center and the Dr. Billy Kim International Center.
