September 19, 2016 (Jackson, Miss.) - New York Timesbest-selling author S.C. Gwynne will speak to Belhaven students on September 22, 2:30 p.m. about his new book, The Perfect Pass.
His new book tells the incredible story of how Belhaven's Head Football Coach Hal Mumme and Mike Leach revolutionized American football and changed the way the game is played at every level, from high school to the NFL.
Gwynne, who is in Mississippi promoting his new book at Lemuria, will spend time speaking with students about the craft of writing, football, history and other elements of his work.
In his book, Gwynne explores Mumme's genius and the stunning performance of his teams, as well as his leading role in changing football from a run-dominated sport to a pass-dominated sport. He and others like ESPN Magazine, consider Mumme one of a handful of offensive innovators in the history of American football.
