Mr. David TarrantMarch 30, 2017 (Jackson, Miss) - Belhaven University has appointed Mr. David Tarrant as Vice President for Business Affairs and CFO, beginning June 1, 2017.

Mr. Tarrant is a seasoned finance leader, bringing to Belhaven over 25 years of experience in strategic planning, operational excellence, decision support, internal controls and investment analysis. He is a proven leader with a track record of documented contributions in a variety of non-profit, for-profit, domestic and international roles.

He has served in Christian higher education for over 10 years. He is currently Vice President for Finance and Operations, CFO at Northwest Nazarene University in Idaho, and previously held the same position at Crown College in Minnesota.

He and his wife Maureen, have an unwavering commitment to our Christ-centered mission. He is a remarkable match with us and the Lord has generously answered our prayer.”

Before coming to Christian higher education, Mr. Tarrant served in positions of growing responsibility with the Whirlpool Corporation, including: North American Director, Finance Pricing & Analysis (2006-2007), Director, Finance Whirlpool & Value Brands (2005-2006), Controller Whirlpool Canada (2002-2005), Lead Financial Analyst, Value Brands & Developing Categories (1999-2002), Manager Pricing Administration (1998-1999), and Manager Information Services (1996-1998).

In 1995, while serving as marketing manager for Vickers Incorporated, Mr. Tarrant and his wife Maureen left the corporate arena for a time to serve a year with the CoMission Project. They taught "Christian Ethics and Morality: A Foundation for Society" curriculum in the Russian public school system, hospitals and orphanages in Volgograd, Russia.

“I am excited about the opportunity to work with the excellent team at Belhaven,” said Mr. Tarrant. “Working alongside dedicated faculty, staff and administration, I hope to bring my strength in understanding the complexities of higher education finance to help the University make the best decisions in the future.”

A graduate of The University of Toledo, Mr. Tarrant earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Corporate Financial Management. He then earned his Master of Business Administration from Crown College.

He and his wife Maureen have three sons, Ian (24), Evan (20), Owen (19) and one daughter Alissa (17). His wife is a registered nurse who has worked in hospital, clinic and educational settings. She is currently serving as the nursing simulation lab coordinator for Northwest Nazarene University (NNU). Ian is a recent college graduate who is studying emergency medicine with the goal of working as a paramedic. Evan is a sophomore at NNU and Owen is a freshman. Alissa is a senior in high school.

Belhaven University serves 5,000 students, and stands among select Christian colleges and universities with national influence, being repeatedly named one of “America's 100 Best College Buys." The University offers 70 areas of undergraduate study as well as a variety of Master Degree programs and Doctoral Degrees in education.

The University has achieved the distinction of being among only 36 universities nationally accredited in each of the major arts - music, theatre, visual art and dance. The science curriculum is one of only two Christian universities recognized by the White House STEM Initiative. The University's 15 athletic teams compete in the NCAA Division III.
