Dr. WilberFebruary 27, 2017 (Jackson, Miss.) - Dr. Stephen Wilber, professor of music at Lee University, will take to the stage at Belhaven and perform for the highly anticipated guest piano recital on March 3rd.

He has been hailed for the freshness and refinement of his playing and his force, imagination, feeling and lyricism.

The center piece of this recital will be Rachmaninoff's Variations on a Theme of Corelli, Op. 42. This special concert will also feature music from Bach and Brahms. Admission is free and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Concert Hall.

In 1999, Dr. Wilber won first prize in the Pro-Mozart competition, second prize in the American Liszt Society competition and a semifinalist in the Concert Artist Guild auditions. He has also performed in solo concerto engagements throughout Europe and the United States. He made his orchestral debut with members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, performing Mozart's Piano Concerto no. 26 in D major. His debut recording, Overture, has been praised for its purity of style and deeply internalized concepts and sense of drama.
