February 27, 2017 (Jackson, Miss.) - The 2016 issue of The Brogue is now available online. This annual fine arts journal from the Belhaven Creative Writing Department features a wide sampling of the arts and represents the best of student writing, art, drama, photography and graphic design at Belhaven.
“This journal is the product of our thought and labor, a gift to ourselves, to one another and to you,” said Dr. Randall Smith, chair of creative writing at Belhaven. “Whatever glimpses of truth and beauty we found, we lay them on these pages. This journal is a tribute to the truth-and-beauty of our Maker, a thanksgiving, an offering from our lives.”
Members of The Brogue editorial staff and contributors to the journal include representatives from many areas of the arts at Belhaven: creative writing, theater, visual art, graphic design, music and dance.
Belhaven has published a fine arts journal for many years, dating back to the earliest days of the College. Dr. Smith keeps a copy of one of the earliest publications, Belhaven Anthology: A Garden of Verse, printed in 1944.
