May 3, 2018 (Atlanta, Ga.) - Students from Belhaven University's Atlanta campus will celebrate commencement on May 19, 2018. Thegraduation ceremonybegins at 10 a.m. at St. Luke's Presbyterian Church, 1978 Mount Vernon Road, Dunwoody, Ga.
Dr. Kotina W. Hall, Dean of Faculty at Belhaven University Atlanta, will give the commencement address. She is regarded as an educator, an activist and a community leader, known for creating projects for corporate, non-profit, and academic sectors. A 20-year veteran to the civic and corporate industry, she has established herself as a savvy business leader, speaker, and accomplished executive. Dr. Hall has served as an adjunct professor with Belhaven Atlanta since 2012.
She has held numerous faculty appointments at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Dr. Hall holds a doctorate degree from Argosy University, along with a master's degree from Central Michigan University, and a bachelor's degree from Spelman College; both with honors. She has also earned Six Sigma Green Belt and Project Management certifications from Villanova University with post-graduate trainings from Emory University, Sanford Brown Institute, and Harvard University.
Dr. Hall has always had passion to mentor, and created Partnership Success, Incorporated (PS, Inc.). She founded the organization to better equip and strengthen youth to become educationally and professionally mature, financially responsible, and socially conscious members of society through a series of educational workshops, tutoring and mentoring. She also launched Women Who S.H.O.P. for Christ on the campus of Belhaven University/Atlanta in 2017. Since the launch, more than 184 women from diverse backgrounds and levels of education have participated in the event. The vision of the group is to create academic and professional platforms that empower women to lead extraordinary Christian lives in their workplaces, homes, community, and ultimately the world.
She has civic and professional affiliations with organizations such as Sigma Beta Delta International Business and Management Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society, The National Association of Professional Women, Alabama Writer's Forum, Toastmasters International, Thomasville Heights Elementary Community Board Member, Ladies Aide Missionary Society #139, and the Senior Connections Board.
Dr. Hall has received numerous awards and recognitions which include leadership, academic, civic outreach, and performance awards. In 2016, she was awarded the 2016 Community Service Leadership Award by the Ninth District Association and was inducted in the 100 Women of Atlanta association along with being named by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as one of Atlanta's Women on the Move. Since 2013, Hall has released three books, inspired by her beloved daughter, Jekoti-Blake: Patches, Patches Visits the Jungle, and Patches Wears a Tutu. Hall authors under the name C. Sam Read. Dr. Hall resides in Atlanta with her husband and daughter, Jeffrey and Jekoti-Blake.
