October 9, 2019 (Jackson, Miss.) - To conclude the speaker series “Mental Health and the Bible,” Belhaven's Institute for International Care and Counsel will host author, speaker, editor, and leadership coach Amy Simpson.
She is the author of Blessed Are the Unsatisfied: Finding Spiritual Freedom in an Imperfect World and the award-winning books Troubled Minds: Mental Illness and the Church's Mission and Anxious: Choosing Faith in a World of Worry (all InterVarsity Press).
Simpson is an acquisitions editor for Moody Publishing and a former publishing executive. She has more than 20 years of experience in Christian publishing. She holds an English degree from Trinity International University, an M.B.A. from the University of Colorado, and CPCC certification from Coaches Training Institute.
Simpson will be the special guest speaker during Belhaven's weekly chapel on October 29. Then that evening, she will speak will the community and students. Her community-wide lecture, “Our Calling to Care: Mental Health and Christian Community,” is Tuesday, October 29 and will be held at 7 p.m. in Irby Room 200. This lecture series is free and open to the public.
Because of a generous grant by the Presbyterian Church USA, Belhaven is able to bring this lecture series to campus, and University leaders plan on having additional lectures throughout the year.
