April 3, 2019 (Jackson, Miss.) - The Student Invitational Art Exhibition is the centerpiece of the year for Belhaven's Visual Art Department and will celebrate the hard work and growth of its art majors. This annual exhibit is juried and highlights a wide range of styles and media including drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and mixed media.
The opening reception will be at the Bitsy Irby Visual Arts and Dance Center Gallery on Saturday, April 6, 2 - 4 p.m.
All art majors get to submit their works to faculty with the hope that their art will be selected for the premiere. This unique exhibit is the culmination of the department's practicum period. Practicum helps each student focus on and identify their own unique artistic abilities, while preparing them for a career in the arts.
The art exhibition will be on display April 6 - May 10 and is open to the public. Gallery hours include Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
