February 22, 2019 (Jackson, Miss.) - Angie Thomas '11, New York Times bestselling author of The Hate U Give, will return to her alma mater to celebrate the release of her second book, On the Come Up.
Jackson's First Lady Ebony Lumumba will join Thomas on stage for a conversation about the new book.They will read excerpts from On the Come Up, and then have a time for Q&A.
The event, sponsored by Lemuria Books, is on Thursday, February 28 and begins at 4 p.m. in Belhaven's Center for the Arts Concert Hall. At 5 p.m., Thomas will be signing copies of her new book in the Concert Hall lobby. Signed books will be available for purchase on site from Lemuria Books.
This is a ticketed event, but Belhaven students will get in free with proof of ID. They can pick up their free ticket at the LeFleur Campus or Cleland Hall on the main campus.
