November 20, 2019 (Jackson, Miss.) - Investor, company builder, and advisor Mr. Victor Hu will be the honored speaker at Belhaven University's 2019 December Graduation Ceremony. Belhaven will honor its December graduates during its commencement exercises December 14, 9:30 a.m. at Thalia Mara Hall, 255 East Pascagoula Street.
Hu is the managing partner and co-founder of Lumos Capital Group, an investment firm that works with entrepreneurs and companies who are defining the future of human capital. They invest in growth stage companies in the education technology, knowledge services, and human capital development sector globally.
Prior to Lumos, Hu was a managing director and global head of education technology & knowledge services investment banking at Goldman Sachs. He co-founded the education technology and knowledge services practice at 
Goldman, and led a global team that advised, financed, and invested in leading global education and education technology companies, completing over $50B in transactions during his tenure.
Prior to Goldman Sachs, Hu worked as an investment professional at Zephyr Management, an emerging markets private equity firm, and previously was an attorney at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, an international law firm, where he worked on global mergers and acquisitions and securities.
Hu's career has been focused on the intersection of education, finance, and technology. He is passionate about the role of education and investment in global economic development, and has written and spoken widely at conferences around the world discussing how capital and technology can help to advance innovation and better outcomes in the education sector globally.
He is a member of the advisory board of Edify, a Christian nonprofit organization focused on international education, as well as the education advisory board of Village Capital, a venture capital firm focused on social entrepreneurship.
Hu received an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, J.D. from Harvard Law School and B.A. from Amherst College. He is originally from Taiwan, spent most of his childhood in Africa and Asia, and currently lives in San Francisco, California with his wife and two daughters.
