February 19, 2020 (Jackson, Miss.) - Belhaven's Visual Art Department will host a special solo exhibition, featuring the work of Jacob Rowan '12. Rowan, who recently earned a Master of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), will showcase the work he produced during his graduate studies.
The Jacob Rowan Graduate Exhibition will begin February 22 and run through March 25 in the Bitsy Irby Visual Art and Dance Center Art Gallery.
Rowan received his M.F.A. in Studio Art from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2019 and received a B.A. in Art from Belhaven University in 2012. His work has been exhibited in multiple solo and group shows throughout the country and abroad.
He spent six months in Japan as an artist-in-residence for Community Arts Tokyo. During his time in Tokyo, Rowan was able to be a part of a team of musicians and artists who focused on serving the local churches through art and building community among the professional artists of Tokyo.
He currently lives in Jackson, Miss., where he teaches high school art and art history at Jackson Academy and is an adjunct at Hinds Community College.
