September 4, 2020 (Jackson, MIss.) - Belhaven University has added new professors. These top professors come from a variety of backgrounds and have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with students.
Jack Shi
Instructor of Business
Shi has been teaching at Belhaven University as an adjunct professor since March 2019. He has worked at the International Center of Mississippi College and was an adjunct physical education teacher at Mississippi College. Shi received his B.A in Translation (English-Chinese) from DaLian University in China, and his MBA in Finance and Master in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Mississippi College.
Jacob Rowan
Assistant Professor of Art
Rowan previously taught at Hinds Community College as an adjunct and has seven years of teaching experience from Jackson Academy. He has also worked in various capacities as artist-in-residence, art editor, curator, and community organizer. His work has been exhibited in multiple solo and group shows throughout Mississippi, Maryland, and Japan. He received his B.A. in Art from Belhaven University and his M.F.A. in Studio Art from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
Ruth Dentel
Specialty Instructor in Theater
Dentel is starting her tenure at Belhaven University this year. She comes from a professional theatre background, working several years as a designer and in costume construction. Dentel received her MFA in costume design from the University of Virginia.
Jake Yenish
Assistant Professor of Theatre Design & Production
Yenish is in his debut season with Belhaven University. Yenish's background is in technical theatre, specializing in lighting design, scenic design, and technical direction. He earned an MFA from Minnesota State University and BA from Bethany Lutheran College. Yenish has over 15 years of experience and looks forward to working with the students and staff at Belhaven University to continue the tradition of excellence in theatre and approaching the field through a Christian Worldview.
