November 23, 2021 (Jackson, Miss.) - Two commencement ceremonies will honor Belhaven University graduates on Saturday, December 11 at Thalia Mara Hall.
All students earning undergraduate degrees, graduate education degrees, and graduate biblical and theological degrees will have their ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Belhaven's School of Business will celebrate its students earning graduate degrees at 2:30 p.m.
Executive Director of In His Steps Ministries Jasper Bacon will be the commencement speaker for both ceremonies this year. After serving in pastoral ministry, Bacon and his wife Carolyn were given a vision for outreach ministry to impact lives for Christ. This calling was to develop a ministry which would provide strategic outreach to the unchurched and unevangelized people in the Bacon's hometown of Canton, Mississippi.
In His Steps Ministries (IHS) was founded in November 1994 with the mission of ministering to at-risk youth and their families. God's faithfulness prevailed when IHS received their 501(c)(3) non-profit status in April 1995. With the support of generous donors and the guidance of a Board of Directors, IHS purchased a 15-acre campus and constructed a 7,200 square foot building complete with classrooms, a computer lab, conference room, game room, multipurpose room, and administrative offices.
