New “ArtWORK” Exhibit to Highlight Art and Design Professors

October 5, 2023 (Jackson, Miss.) – Professors from Belhaven’s Art and Design Department will showcase their mastery of art in the upcoming exhibition, “ArtWORK.”

Professor and Co-Chair of Art and Design Department Nate Theisen said, “This exhibition is a meeting point. It is an expression of the Belhaven Art and Design Department's approach to art. Art is the result of a creative process. In other words, it is work. It is a physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual process that is begun by the artist and completed by the viewer. As such, this exhibit contains the multitude of processes taught in the department and practiced by the faculty. It is diverse, yet cohesive.”

“ArtWORK” will begin with a gallery talk and process demonstration on Friday, October 20 in the Bitsy Irby Visual Art and Dance Center. The gallery talk will be held in the Bitsy Irby Gallery at 10 a.m., followed by the process demonstrations at 1 p.m. in various nearby classrooms.

The opening reception will be on Saturday, October 21 from 3-5 p.m. in the Bitsy Irby Gallery. This event is free and open to the public and will be on display from October 21 to November 30.
