Art and Design Alumnus Haddon McKinney Showcases New Work
JACKSON, Miss. (August 20, 2025) – Belhaven University’s Art and Design Department will showcase the work of alum and Atlanta-based freelance artist Haddon McKinney in the Bitsy Irby Art Gallery, August 22–September 19.
McKinney will open the exhibit with a gallery talk on Friday, August 22, from 10–11 a.m., and lead a hands-on masterclass from 1–3 p.m. The University will host the opening reception on Saturday, August 23, from 2–4 p.m.
McKinney graduated from Belhaven University with a degree in art and has built a career as a freelance artist in Atlanta, Georgia. He creates work that blends contemporary techniques with classical foundations, exploring themes of identity, community, and faith. McKinney has exhibited in galleries across the Southeast and contributed to collaborative public art projects in Atlanta. Alongside his studio practice, he mentors emerging artists and teaches workshops that emphasize hands-on exploration and creative problem-solving.
The exhibition is free and open to the public. It will be on display August 22–September 19. The Gallery is located in the Bitsy Irby Visual Arts and Dance Center Gallery and hours include Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
