Theatre Department to Present Twelve Angry Jurors

JACKSON, Miss. (January 29, 2026) — Belhaven University’s Theatre Department will present Twelve Angry Jurors this February in the University’s Blackbox Theatre. The play is adapted by Sherman L. Sergel from the Emmy Award-winning television movie by Reginald Rose.

Directed by Elissa Sartwell, Twelve Angry Jurors is a gripping courtroom drama that examines justice, prejudice, and moral responsibility. The play follows a 19-year-old man accused of murdering his father. As 12 jurors gather to deliberate what initially appears to be an open-and-shut case, one juror questions the evidence and urges thoughtful discussion. As tensions rise and personal biases surface, the jurors re-examine the testimony and confront their own assumptions, shaping one of the most enduring works of American dramatic literature.
