Belhaven Choral Arts to Present The New Creation Concert
JACKSON, Miss. (April 9, 2026) - Belhaven University’s Music Department and Choral Arts program will present The New Creation, a concert of sacred music, on Monday, April 14, at 7 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Concert Hall.
The free performance will feature excerpts from “The Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom” by contemporary composer Kurt Sander. Written in the Church Slavonic tradition, the work reflects a living expression of liturgical art that not only preserves sacred musical heritage but also brings its meaning into the present.
Rooted in the Church’s ancient worship, Sander’s composition engages the heart, mind, and body, offering a musical experience that reflects the Church’s incarnational vision. The program proclaims the message of the prophet Isaiah, “God is with us,” through a rich and immersive choral setting.
Admission is free, and doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
