Belhaven University Appoints Andrea Edwards as Director of Traditional BSN Program and Assistant Professor of Nursing
JACKSON, Miss. (July 30, 2026) — Belhaven University has appointed Andrea Edwards, M.S.N., CNE, as director of the Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program and assistant professor of nursing. She joins the School of Nursing with more than 20 years of experience in nursing practice, administration, and education.
In her new role, Edwards will lead the university's traditional BSN program while preparing the next generation of nurses through innovative instruction, academic mentorship, and a commitment to compassionate, Christ-centered healthcare.
Edwards earned both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing Education from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She further demonstrated her commitment to excellence in nursing education by earning the prestigious Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) credential in 2023.
Her professional experience includes leadership in academic nursing education, hospital-based nursing education, nursing administration, and clinical practice. This diverse background provides students with a comprehensive understanding of both the clinical and educational aspects of the nursing profession while connecting classroom learning with real-world patient care.
Edwards has been recognized statewide for her contributions to nursing education. She received the Mississippi Nurse Educator of the Year Award and the Mississippi Innovative Teaching Award from the Mississippi Organization of Associate Degree Nurses in recognition of her commitment to advancing nursing education and promoting student achievement.
