Belhaven University Appoints Sonya Arrington as Assistant Professor of Business Administration
JACKSON, Miss. (July 29, 2026) — Belhaven University has appointed Sonya Arrington as assistant professor of business administration in its School of Business, where she will prepare graduate students to lead in today’s rapidly evolving, technology-driven business environment.
Ms. Arrington brings more than 20 years of professional experience in business and technology leadership, including work with Fortune 100 organizations. In her new role, she will teach graduate business courses, mentor students, and equip current and emerging leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in complex organizational settings. Her teaching and research interests include business intelligence, analytics, organizational technology adoption, leadership, project management, and artificial intelligence.
Ms. Arrington earned a Master of Science in Leadership and a Bachelor of Science from Belhaven University. She also holds the globally recognized Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, which she has maintained for more than a decade. Her doctoral research in business intelligence and analytics focuses on the adoption of artificial intelligence within Mississippi government health and human services organizations, with an emphasis on organizational readiness, innovation, and technology integration.
Prior to joining Belhaven, Ms. Arrington led multimillion-dollar projects, managed large-scale business transformation initiatives, and supported government healthcare programs. Her professional experience includes roles as a software developer, business analyst, project manager, trainer, account executive, and organizational leader.
Outside the classroom, Ms. Arrington enjoys mentoring emerging professionals, serving in ministry, spending time with her four children and growing family of grandchildren, and supporting community and faith-based initiatives. Her commitment to lifelong learning, servant leadership, and student success guides her work both inside and outside the university.
