Belhaven University Choir Presents “Philokalia” November 9

JACKSON, Miss. (October 26, 2026) – Belhaven University's Music Department will present Philokalia, a choir concert exploring beauty, truth, and the sacred, on November 9, 2026, at 7 p.m. in the Belhaven University Center for the Arts Concert Hall.

Meaning “love of the beautiful,” Philokalia brings together choral works drawn from Christian traditions across time. Through expressions of awe, longing, wonder, and praise, the selections celebrate the beauty of God revealed in creation, worship, and the life of the Church.

The program’s theme echoes the words of a sacred hymn: “All things speak unwittingly of Thee.” Amid the noise and distractions of everyday life, the concert offers audiences a moment to pause, listen, and reflect on beauty as a call that draws the heart more deeply toward Christ. Admission is free, and doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The concert is one of many events presented by Belhaven University’s School of Arts. Explore Arts Ablaze for upcoming music and dance concerts, theatre productions, poetry readings, gallery exhibits, and more.
