Belhaven School of Business Honored for Program

COD Business 2020November 24, 2020 (Jackson, Miss.) - Colleges of Distinction (COD) has awarded top honors to Belhaven University’s School of Business for its multidisciplinary programs and practical experience for students.

“We engage our students through case studies, internships, and simulations to fully prepare them for a variety of business careers upon graduation,” said Belhaven School of Business Dean Dr. Chip Mason. “Every business student is required to have an internship or experiential learning experience to supplement a business curriculum which is continuously improved to reflect the best practices of global business education.”

COD evaluated schools based on their ability to provide a high-quality student experience, as well as a thorough liberal arts education. After a comprehensive vetting process, they selected Belhaven based on quality of program, business ethics, multidisciplinary exposure, dedicated advisors, practical experience, collaborative learning, industry connections, and a track record for success.

Dr. Antwon Woods is Belhaven’s Chair and Assistant Professor of Business Administration and Sport Management, and he credits the faculty for much of the program’s success. “Our business faculty are not only excellent teachers, but dedicated mentors who work hard to advise and guide their students to career success,” said Woods. “Our graduates are utilizing the mentorship and instruction from our faculty as a guide towards their career success, which assisted them in obtaining positions as entrepreneurs, sales executives, CPAs, attorneys, and managers of both small and large entities.”

COD selected the top business schools that offer hands-on business programs that produce experienced, responsible leaders for the booming corporate world. Mason said, “Belhaven’s School of Business teaches business as a global force for good. We academically and spiritually prepare our students to be servant leaders in business, human relationships and the world of ideas.”  Woods added, “We believe that our service and instruction, which are considered the foundational strength of our department, have developed and continue to develop the minds of our scholars to not only be catalysts of change but extraordinary business leaders for tomorrow.”
