Mississippi Urban Dance Festival
January 13, 2015 (Jackson) - The dance departments at Belhaven University and Hinds Community College are teaming up to present the first ever Mississippi Urban Dance Festival on January 15-17. This three-day festival will consist of dance classes taught by internationally and nationally recognized dance artists, an open discussion forum, a dance improv jam and a festival-wide concert with the opportunity to submit works for adjudication.
The festival begins at Belhaven on January 15 at 4 p.m. with master classes that evening at 6 and 8 p.m. Festivities continue the next day at Belhaven with a master class at 1 p.m. Later that night, there will be a special adjudicated performance at Hinds’ Cain-Cochran Hall, Raymond Campus. The concert is $10 for adults and $5 for students on Friday, January 16 at 7 p.m. For tickets call 601-857-3266. The festival concludes at Belhaven on Saturday, January 17 with a variety of master classes throughout the day beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at 4:30 p.m.
