Dear Belhaven University,
This week as I reflect on the things my family and I have, to be thankful for, I think back to the mid-90’s when I was a husband, new father, homeowner and primary breadwinner that was barely getting by and in desperate need of a career change.
When I showed up at the Belhaven Admissions Office to inquire about returning to school as a “non-traditional’ student, Belhaven had not been my first choice and I had a lot of reservations about whether it was even possible to go back to school to pursue a degree in accounting, given the responsibilities I had.
I have to say that making the decision to enroll at Belhaven to complete my education was one of the most important decisions I’ve made in my life. From day one, the faculty and staff provided the guidance, encouragement, support, and instruction I needed to succeed. The Belhaven staff provided all the resources I needed for obtaining financial aid, career counseling, and course scheduling, even fantastic job opportunities before I had even graduated.
The Accounting degree and focus on a Christian world view I received from Belhaven enabled me to pursue a very rewarding 25-year (and still going) career in information technology. I have had the opportunity to work with fantastic people including Fortune 500 companies in the U.S., Canada, South America, Europe, and Asia.
Whenever I have run into someone who was struggling with the decision of school selection or whether they should return to college I gladly shared my testimony and directed them to Belhaven.
