In addition to theatre classrooms and faculty offices, the theatre wing includes a scene shop, costume shop, sound lab, and props workshop. The department's primary performance venue is the Blackbox Theatre, located in the Center for the Arts.
The Blackbox Theatre is located in the Center for the Arts at 835 Riverside Drive. This impressive space has a 54-foot square tension wire grid and can seat up to 200. With the flexibility to perform in proscenium, thrust, arena, and alley configurations, the Blackbox Theatre offers expansive opportunities for students both in performance and production.
Adjacent to the Blackbox Theatre, you'll find a fully equipped scene shop, costume shop, props workshop, and dressing rooms.
In addition to a large, multipurpose classroom, you'll have access to a design lab, a script library, and a designated space for gathering with other students. Plus, our self-tape studio is the perfect place for you to film your next audition.
Located on the ground floor of Hood Library, Barber Theatre is a 150-seat proscenium-style space perfect for staging smaller, intimate works.
